I have seen a number of cases where the primary backing is first to degrade and the pile falls out with the vacuum like insect damage. The pile density controls how much UV reaches the backing. Poly olefin backing is are not usually treated with UV inhibitors to save cost.

High resolution photos are always good, especially zooming in on disputed areas. Taking photos of items reporting pre existing damage is always necessary. You get the insured who wants to get the most out of the claim and they will try and bury you in the course of doing that. Do not do deals with the insured. So as Scott says, very detailed reports. Lots of photos.
Excellent service. Be truthful, factual and efficient.
After a few years of experience you can draw a pattern of the insured cognitive attitude when on site. We tend to nip things in the bud. If the insured tries to push for a replacement and it does not fall inline with our writing off policy, I ask them to speak to the insurance company about it. A claim is a project – Defining – Planning – Implementing – Finalising and keeping all stakeholders informed.
